High-Tech Ads Shock Singaporean Shoppers

Singapore shoppers looking to score a bargain on designer shoes, handbags, and belts made from the skins of cows, snakes, or lizards are in for a rude awakening. That’s because leading ad agency McCann Erickson Singapore has designed three edgy new ads for PETA that shoppers will find irresistible. With ad space generously donated by Clear Channel, the ads—which are launching as bus stop posters—feature pictures of designer items supposedly for sale at “amazing” prices and direct viewers to download a particular smart phone application for details. Try it and see what happens!

The ads aim to show shoppers the real price that animals pay for leather and other items made of skins. Most people don’t know that cows and other animals killed for leather endure painful mutilations, physical abuse, and cruel treatment during transport and slaughter; many are dismembered while they are still conscious. Did the ad shock you into ethical shopping habits? Pledge that the only skin you’re in is your own!

I dont understand either- I mean what is fashionable about carrying around a dead animal skin- and if you like the look of it you can get fake stuff.
